Nowadays it is not surprising to know a lot of people have never used handmade soap before. Little do they know what they are using as "soap" is not really soap at all!
A few years back when I was pregnant with my husband and I's first child, we had decided to make changes with certain things we use in our household because we wanted to create a more natural environment for our growing family. We started with the things we consumed and what we put on our bodies. When I took a look at different soaps found in stores, this is when I learned that what we were using as "soap" was not soap! Instead, we were using things made up of chemical detergents, hardeners, and synthetic lathering agents, ingredients that are irritating and harsh on the skin. I then decided to research what real soap was made up of. Oils, liquid, and sodium hydroxide (lye), these simple ingredients contain no irritating or harsh ingredients and creates true soap!
So what else is good about handmade soap? Handmade soap also contains an amazing humectant Glycerin. Glycerin helps to moisturize the skin by drawing moisture from the air directly to the skin. Most commercial soaps don't even have Glycerin in it! Glycerin is made during the soapmaking process is apart of what makes handmade soap so amazing!
Butterskin Soaps are made with skin-loving oils and butters such as coconut oil, olive oil, palm oil, and Shea butter. This combination of oils is what makes each bar completely moisturizing, soothing, and nourishing!
Oh and what about the Lye? Isn't that harsh on the skin? YES, it is but thank goodness the lye is completely gone during the soaping process!
Handmade soap is both unique and beneficial to the skin, with our additives such as essential oils and botanical is what makes Butterskin Soaps versatile, unique and oh so skin-loving!
